■Y/N's POV■

I've just arrived at Akane's house along with her and her family. Akane wasn't originally from Miyagi, she's from Iwate, so now I'm north from Miyagi.

I decided to stay in Akane's place during this holiday because I want to avoid Wakatoshi. I don't want him to see me cry again.

I was looking at the city through Akane's room window when I feel a tap on my back. I look back to meet with Akane's worried face.

Akane: you okay? If you're not, I'm so gonna kick that Ushijima ass when school starts.

Y/N: uh no Akane... I just... oh the view is nice...

Akane: have I told you that you're a bad liar?

Akane ruffles my hair and pulls my hand, getting us out of her room and eventually out of her house.

Akane: forget him, let's have some fun around here, I'll take you around!

Akane, she's trying her best to cheer me up. I can't weep around all the time. It could make Wakatoshi uncomfortable too if I meet him again and I'm still like this.

I take a deep breath and nod at Akane. With that Akane and I walk around and do fun things together. Gradually, I'm sure I'll forget my feelings for Wakatoshi.

■Ushijima's POV■

I check my phone and there is no chat from Y/N. Usually, during holidays, she would ask whether I'm free or not and would come to my place or see me practice.

She's definitely upset...

I walk out of my room and see my mother and grandmother. They turn their gaze at me.

Ushi mom: where are you heading?

Ushijima: L/N's house

Grandmother: Y/N? she used to be the one who comes...

I just bow my head and take my leave. I'm planning to apologize to her if I hurt her feelings.

I arrived at her place and press on the bell. I hear someone comes closer and the sliding door is open. There Y/N's mother is standing and smiling at me.

Y/N mom: Wakatoshi, hello! what brought you here?

Ushijima: good afternoon, is Y/N home?

Her mother looks surprised for a second.

Y/N mom: oh my, Y/N didn't tell you? This holiday she'll be staying at Akane's house in Iwate, Akane invited her to.

I was surprised, she didn't tell me. Is she, avoiding me?

"Y/N: I will stop distracting you"

I feel a hand tapped my shoulder and I look down to see Y/N's mother staring at me worriedly.

Y/N mom: is everything okay Wakatoshi kun? You're spacing out...

Ushijima: I... I'm sorry...

I bow my head at her and look at her. Y/N's mother is startled by my action just now.

Ushijima: I think, I hurt her feelings so I came to apologize...

Y/N mom: Oh my, you guys are fighting? It's the first time...

Y/N's mother chuckles and then taps my shoulder again.

Y/N mom: I'm sure you guys will makeup... Y/N could never hate you Wakatoshi, because you're her first friend since we moved here... and you're always around when she lost her father...

I look at her gentle figure. Y/N's mother is right, I never once fought with her even as a kid. Maybe because she's basically a calm girl and I'm not much of a talker, to begin with.

I bow my head at Y/N's mother and take my leave. Just then my phone rings, somehow it excited me.

Is it her?

I look at the name written on the screen, and somehow I'm disappointed. It's not Y/N, it's Tendo. I slide the answer button and hear as he speaks.

Tendo: Ushijima~ let's all meet up, I'm with Semi-Semi and Ohira right now. Meet us at the XX Cafe.

I look back at Y/N's house once again, she's not around here at the moment. She wouldn't be asking to tag along when I'm practicing or stopping by my place. Even if she's here, I don't think she will do it.

Ushijima: I'll be there...

■3rd Person POV■

Ushijima walks inside the cafe, Tendo waves his hand trying to get his attention. Ushijima walks in and sits next to Ohira.

Semi: hmm... something feels off...

Semi stares at Ushijima and he returns the gaze.

Ohira: what is it?

Semi: oh! L/N, where is she? She used to tag along when we're hanging out on holiday like this

Though Ushijima's face remains unfazed, Tendo could see that he was flinching for a sec. Tendo pry into Ushijima's eyes and Ushijima confused by his teammate.

Tendo: has anything happened?

Ushijima: what happened?

Tendo: I don't know... you look down... and just like what Semi-Semi said... it's weird that L/N don't tag along with us...

Ushijima: Y/N, she's in Iwate, staying at Akane's place for the holidays.

Ohira: wow, that's far... no wonder she's not here...

Tendo: really Ushijima~ nothing else?

Semi: oi Tendo, isn't need normal for her not to be here when she's in another prefecture? Right?

Semi looks at Ushijima and so does his other teammates. Somehow Ushijima feels something is weighting inside of him.

Ushijima: last night...

Ushijima finally tells his friends what actually happened. Their eyes widened, except Tendo who listen with an amused face.

Ohira: she confessed to you, and you rejected her?

Semi: I thought you guys are gonna be a thing seeing that she's always been around you...

Ushijima looks down at his hands resting on the table. Semi is right, Y/N always been around him.

Tendo: so how did you reject her...

Ushijima flinches again.

Ushijima: I... told her that she distracted me...

Semi who's drinking spits the water in his mouth and Ohira helps him to get a towel.

Semi: I... didn't think you'll say that...

Ohira: that's pretty... um... harsh...

Tendo: so is she mad? Did she say that she hated you or anything that's why she avoided you?

Ushijima: no, she said she's okay... and smiles...

Ushijima looks down at his hands as his friends were all surprised by what he said.

Semi: she really is used to you... so she's okay even after what you said... strong girl...

Ohira: well, L/N is a kind girl, to begin with, and you guys have been friends for a long...

Ushijima: but I know she's not okay...

Semi, Ohira, and Tendo look at Ushijima's face. Still, he looks composed with his usual straight expression, but the three could see the worry in his eyes, which is a rare thing to see.

Tendo: and what do you mean by that~

Ushijima remembers Y/N's face as it was drenched with her tears. The way she's genuinely smiled at him but he knew that's all just a facade because Ushijima knows Y/N couldn't lie.

Ushijima: though she said she's alright... though she was smiling... she's not a good liar... because her tears kept on falling... I made her cry...

The three see as Ushijima's shoulder slumps a little.

Semi: ey Ushijima, don't worry, I mean it's normal for her to cry... she was rejected... but she said she's fine right?

Ohira: you guys are friends since you're a kid... I'm sure things would be just fine... you can apologize when you see her...

Ushijima listens to what Semi and Ohira said as they're consoling him. But Tendo said another thing.

Tendo: do you regret it?

Ushijima's eyes widened and he looks at Tendo. He smiles slyly at him

Semi: Oi Tendo!

Tendo: well I mean it could be fine just like what these two said... but you know?

Ushijima stares at Tendo as he playfully smirks.

Tendo: I might not close to her as you are, but I know one thing for sure... L/N is always thinking about someone else before herself... hearing you said that she distracted you, might make her want to stop... distracting you...

Ushijima's eyes widened, remembering when Y/N said exactly what Tendo said just now.

Tendo: Bingo~ well, don't worry Ushijima, I'm sure just like what Ohira said, things would be just fine, but... it might not gonna be the same though...

Ushijima ponders in his head, even right now he feels that everything is not the same.

Y/N is not here...

Y/N didn't text him or call him...

Y/N is not with him...

He couldn't see her...

It feels... off...
